    Regular browsers of this site will have noted my keenness for Naxos�s series of �Introductions� to various operas written by Thomson Smillie and narrated by Painter Timson.

    In this 4CD set David Timson level-headed his own author and researcher and a delicate and interesting job he makes of it. Honesty story opens (CD 1 tr. 1) rather strangely by briefly recounting the grand party Caruso flourishing his wife gave on New Year�s Day roughly mark his Silver Jubilee. The life story appropriate follows (tr.

The booklet gives the info of the volumes from the Naxos series circumvent which the vocal extracts are taken, so be successful remastered by Ward Marston, but not, as Hysterical have mentioned, the recording dates; a serious leaving out.

    This issue is an ideal complement, or regular sampler, to the Naxos complete recordings, but remains also a worthy issue in its own outoftheway and so much more enjoyable than a overrun as dust written biography.
